Synopsis

A modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of West Texas oil rigs

See writer/director Taylor Sheridan’s most popular movies and TV series on IMDb, ranked by user rating.. A Landman, at least one who works in the petroleum industry, will act as the middleman between the exploration companies and the landowners. Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent Essentially, they manage the land and secure the leases, so they can drill oil and gas.

Like a foreman on a construction site, they build out roads, living quarters for the workers (man-camp), assemble the excavation machinery and drill the well itself especially in remote locations. They are also, part Fixer, Problem Solver and Facilitator as well.. Taylor Sheridan makes his female character very shallow even when they appear to be strong so this series is no different.

It’s his show!

But, the show is a winner for me because Billy Bob steals every scene; even the ones where the half naked women show up! The way the oil business is described is probably very true to how the industry is run. BB has the best lines to describe the value of oil, and what makes the world (oil) go round.

His female characters are hugely flawed

settings are great, How the rigs work is actually quite enlightening. I just don’t understand the daughter being such a bimbo and the wife being such a loser, but I suppose this is the Sheridan way. But for great lines, and Billy Bob Thornton at his very best, watch this show. He’s brilliant.
