When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford to appear on the show, Segel said that Goldstein originally wanted “Harrison Ford’s guy,” and was auditioning for people who looked like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they had to at least take it to Ford first, thinking he would immediately turn it down, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford had brought the project, sparking interest from other notable actors.
Eventually, Goldstein talked to Ford and sold him the role. Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he was excited nonetheless. Featured on WatchMojo: Top 10 Best TV Shows of 2023 (So Far) (2023). This was a solid production and a unique story.
I love how each character embraces their imperfections, shows vulnerability, and uses humor for spiritual growth. Downsizing has tons of heartfelt moments, awkward moments, mildly funny cute moments, and laugh-out-loud moments. I hope they keep making additional seasons of this because the character development justifies it. No.
I think the overuse of swearing detracts from the overall power potential here. It’s almost like the writers forcibly made the series tense. I personally don’t think it was necessary. That’s why I gave it an 8.
